In June, Tekniikan maailma published an article interviewing Finnos CEO Jere Heikkinen. In the article Heikkinen talks about the use of laser and X-ray technology in the sawmill industry.
"The log reveals its internal quality, which cannot be determined as quickly and reliably by any other means," Heikkinen says when asked what X-ray can find out. The Finnos equipment builds a 3D model of the log and at the same time performs analysis and calculation. All this happens in less than half a second. So scanning logs does not slow down the process at all. If anything, it speeds it up, because the operator does not have to assess the quality of the log by eye.
