Conquering Sweden: Finnos seminar 2020

Puumies 3/2020 published an article on the seminar Finnos organised in Karlstad, Sweden. The theme of the seminar was the sawmill strengthened by artificial intelligence and X-ray. Together with its partners, Finnos presented artificial intelligence, semi-automatic log reception and sorting, and the latest technologies in the industry.

Guests from around the world were invited to the seminar, and in the end participants came from three different countries. The aim is to organise similar seminars in the future as well.

In 2016, Finnos predicted that the first thing to be renewed in the sawmill industry would be log sorting, where the first errors can be corrected. The second step was planned to be the sawline, where it is possible to see how the log is positioned and sawn. According to the predictions, the second step was due at the end of 2019, but major changes in the market situation pushed this phase to the summer of 2020. Finnos is currently building AI readiness at sawmills, so that additional benefits can be gained with fingerprint technology.

"Although the word customer comes up often in what we say, in practice we are looking for partners who want to develop together with us. This kind of work also takes us forward, so it motivates us, and that is why the collaboration also has a future," says Finnos CEO Jere Heikkinen.
