Metsä Fibre has chosen Finnos as its partner in the project for the world's most modern sawmill in Rauma. Finnos will deliver to Rauma an extensive set of different scanning systems, from sorting to sawing. In addition to the scanning equipment, the delivery includes Finnos' AI-based system that assists production planning, tailored to the needs of the Rauma sawmill on a customer-driven basis. Artificial intelligence enables continuous improvement and optimisation of the sawing process.
"A comparable package using unique, state-of-the-art technology is not yet in use anywhere else in the world. The systems form a seamless whole, which allows the process to be monitored log by log from log sorting through to sawn timber, and the process to be improved continuously by taking the properties of the individual log into account more precisely than ever before," says Finnos CEO Jere Heikkinen.
The foundation of Finnos' development work is built around a solutions focus and a customer-driven approach, developed together with development partners. Metsä Fibre's Rauma project makes it possible to realise the benefits of the latest technology on an unprecedented scale.
