A Finnos Lite 3D Optimizer log scanner will be installed at Haka-Wood in early autumn 2019. Finnos Lite Optimizer is a log rotation system that selects the best setup for the log, positions the log correctly and controls the saw blades. The system can be upgraded with an X-ray module later. The Haka-Wood delivery also includes edger control.
"I have a technical background and I am interested in new innovations and new technology. I believe that the Finnos scanner is state-of-the-art technology right now, and we are guaranteed to get a modern product. Finnos' desire to grow and continuously develop its products also guarantees us products that stay up to date in the future," says Tuomo Saarisilta, CEO of Haka-Wood.
Saarisilta says the price is competitive and finds the possibility of upgrading the scanner with X-ray features interesting. Haka-Wood's scanner will be used to scan birch.
"Our main goal in the upgrade of the whole sawline is to improve sawing accuracy. Birch is almost always slightly crooked and asymmetric. Fully variable and asymmetric setups together with off-centre sawing improve yield and reduce the number of waney sawn pieces. In birch the outer board is the most valuable material, and it needs to be recovered precisely," Saarisilta continues.
"The Haka-Wood project offers an excellent opportunity to further develop our product in a new kind of environment and, best of all, with a cooperation-minded customer," says Jere Heikkinen, CEO of Finnos Oy.
