At the Puumessut wood fair 2019, Finnos signed agreements with Tervolan Saha ja Höyläämö (Tervola Sawmill and Planing Mill) and Vara Saeveski. During the current year, Finnos Fusion X-ray log scanners will be installed for log sorting at both sawmills.
"Finnos uses the latest technology in its scanners, and development of the scanner is being pushed forward all the time by a knowledgeable team. I believe the scanner will bring us financial benefit in terms of raw material use. I do not yet know how much, but that will become clear once we get the new scanner into use. I have also received positive feedback from a few others who have bought the scanner," comments Juha Kokkonen, CEO of Tervolan Saha ja Höyläämö.
Andres Hummal, CEO of Vara Saeveski, says that trust was built during a highly professional sales process, and that the goals of the project are accurate under-bark measurement and a 1.5-2 % better yield.
At the Puumessut wood fair, Finnos presented a control system for the entire sawmill business that is under development and enables AI-based management of the sawmill business.
"I am also looking forward with interest to the 'artificial intelligence' onward from the scanner. Identifying the wood throughout the whole chain, and the feedback the log scanner gets from the other scanners as 'teaching', is a great idea," says Juha Kokkonen.
"We have signed an agreement with the leading AI company Fourkind. Our goal is the singularity of the sawmill industry, in other words reaching the 'consciousness' of artificial intelligence," says Finnos CEO Jere Heikkinen.
