During the Swedish Conquest – Finnos Seminar 2020

Puumies 3/2020 wrote an article about a seminar organized by Finnos in Karlstad, Sweden. The seminar's theme was AI and X-ray enhanced sawing. Finnos, along with its partners, discussed AI, semi-automatic reception and sorting, and the latest technologies in the field during the seminar.

Guests from around the world were invited to the seminar, and participants ultimately came from three different countries. The goal is to organize similar seminars in the future as well.

In 2016, Finnos predicted that log sorting would be the first process to be modernized in the sawmill industry, allowing for the correction of initial errors. The second step envisioned a sawing line that could monitor how the log is oriented and sawn. According to forecasts, the second step was supposed to be realized by the end of 2019, but significant changes in the market situation postponed this phase to the summer of 2020. Finnos is currently building AI readiness for sawmills, which will allow for additional benefits to be gained through ”fingerprint” technology.

-Although the word "customer" is often used in our discussions, we are practically looking for partners who want to develop together with us. This kind of operation also moves us forward, meaning it motivates us, and that's why cooperation also has a future, says Finnos CEO Jere Heikkinen.
