Sanna Suokasta is motivated by the idea that her work makes customers' daily lives smoother and production more efficient. As a quality specialist, she gets to combine precision and problem-solving with people-oriented work in implementation projects.
Sanna Suokas started at Finnok as a Quality Specialist in implementation projects just a few weeks ago, but she has already gotten a good feel for her new role. However, her interest in Finnok didn't arise overnight – the company had been on her radar even during her studies.
“I had already noticed Finno during my studies as an interesting company. When I saw an open position for a quality assurance specialist, I immediately submitted my application.”
Before moving to Finnos, Sanna worked at Versowood as a quality controller and a work supervision trainee. There she became familiar with the daily life of the sawmilling industry, its pace, and its demands. Her background has given her a solid foundation on which to build anew – and now at Finnos, this expertise is combined with training and customer work.
“In this role, I can leverage my previous work experience in training and customer service. The work of a trainer has been meaningful and inspiring to me, and in this role, I will be able to guide clients with new devices.”
Sanna's first day at Finnos was spent assembling machines and getting acquainted with the systems. She works at the Mikkeli office, where the team consists of three people. Since the group had already met before Sanna's official start, the barrier to starting a new job was lower.
“It was nice to start work with familiar people – it’s easy to ask for help. At Finnos, the reception has been warm from the very beginning, and all the contacts from other Finnos employees have been especially pleasing.”
There haven't been any real surprises in the first few weeks, but what's been positive is how open and approachable the atmosphere is. Communication with team members and other people at Finno is smooth, and the new employee has been fully included right away.
The orientation has been intense but rewarding. Sanna has already been able to participate in a few implementations where theory turns into practice. The implementations have left a particularly strong impression, as they concretely show how a large project progresses step by step at the client's site.
“The deployments have been the most interesting so far – that's where you learn the most about the devices, and it's great to get to meet customers.”
There's plenty of new things to learn, and getting a handle on different programs and systems has ensured that the work isn't boring. Sanna has gradually gotten involved in practical tasks, and she bravely tackles everything that comes her way.
The small team in Mikkeli offers a close-knit community, but Finno employees around Finland and internationally have been part of everyday life from the beginning.
“The atmosphere is open, it feels like you can ask anyone for help and you can quickly connect with others.”
This confirms the feeling that even though the work can be technically challenging and there's a lot to learn, no one is left alone.
Sanna is looking forward to the coming months. One of them is particularly exciting: a new project with the plate scanner, where she will be involved right from the start.
“It's great to be able to follow the project right from its launch. And while learning new things is rewarding, I'd particularly like to develop my programming skills – that would surely be beneficial for implementation projects.”
Sanna sees her role as directly supporting Finnkino's goals through customer work.
“At Finnox, we want to make customers smile and competitors sweat. I personally want to be the professional that is easy for clients to work with and with whom projects end with smiles – on both sides.”
Sanna carries a notebook with her, in which she writes down work matters by hand. Each new job has accumulated its own book, and there is already quite a collection of them in her cabinets. She has, however, given up her paper calendar, but handwriting remains – it's her way of organizing things.
